Large Furniture Stores - Why?

OK, it’s sales time, so what are you going to do with your hard-earned cash with all those retailers looking for your pound of flesh?

Well for one I can think of better things to do then spending your money at large furniture stores, seriously are they not all garbage? Doesn’t all the furniture from the likes of MFI, DFS and the like always come damaged? Is it not the case of countless calls to a customer service department to get things sorted.

Personally speaking I try and avoid the large furniture retailers, I think they are all garbage, and where’s the green policy? Are all these stores not all about profit? Is it not all a numbers game, the more bodies through the door, the more the sell.

I always look for handmade furniture from independent furniture specialists, for one I know the furniture will last and because these are small companies the customer service and attention to detail is far enhanced simply because the sale means more to them.

There is a small white furniture specialist in Yapton, West Sussex who offers the following to buyers of their handmade furniture.

  • Exclusive furniture designs, no factory mass-produced rubbish
  • Handmade furniture - no flat pack, hooray, no more messing with the wood glue!
  • Knowledgeable and friendly staff, would you ever find this at any large furniture retailer?
  • Quick delivery on stock items (2-4 weeks), what large store offers that?
  • Two hour delivery slots, you don’t get many companies offering this!
  • Furniture Packaging removed and recycled, I like a company that is offering the green card. It may not be everthing, but as Tesco say every little helps.

Do you think you would find any of that at Britains large furniture retailers? I am to be convinced!
